For more than six decades, my work has been guided by a desire to interpret the world rather than simply record it. Throughout my career I have explored a wide range of subjects and media—from landscapes and figures to collage, drawing, and abstraction—but each body of work has grown from the same fundamental process of observation, imagination, and discovery.

I do not seek to produce photographic likenesses or literal descriptions. Instead, I am interested in finding the essential character of a place, an object, or an idea. Whether working in paint, charcoal, or mixed media, I rely on memory, sketches, photographs, and intuition to develop images that evolve through making. The finished work is rarely what I envisioned at the outset; it emerges through a continual dialogue between intention and surprise.

The landscapes of Southwest Louisiana have become an enduring source of inspiration. Their forests, swamps, and waterways offer an inexhaustible vocabulary of line, color, pattern, and light. At the same time, my drawings and mixed-media works provide a space for experimentation, humor, storytelling, and reflection, allowing ideas to unfold more freely through the layering of images and materials.

Across all of my work, I hope to create images that encourage viewers to look more carefully—to discover beauty, meaning, and order in places that might otherwise be overlooked. The process of making art continues to challenge, surprise, and sustain me, and I hope that spirit of discovery is shared with those who spend time with the work.
